Anti-ragging Cell

Mission and Vision of the Cell

Mission

The College Anti-Ragging Cell is dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students. Its primary mission is to eliminate all forms of ragging, which is defined as any act that causes mental or physical harm to a student, typically as a form of initiation into college life. The Cell seeks to ensure that every student can pursue their education without fear, harassment, or intimidation.

To achieve this mission, the Anti-Ragging Cell undertakes the following key activities:

  1. Awareness and Education: The Cell organizes orientation programmes, seminars, and campaigns to educate students, faculty, and staff about the consequences of ragging and the importance of upholding a ragging-free culture. This includes understanding the legal implications, the emotional and psychological effects on victims, and the responsibility of every individual to prevent ragging.
  2. Strict Enforcement: The Cell is committed to the strict enforcement of anti-ragging laws and institutional policies. It works closely with college administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure that any incidents of ragging are swiftly addressed, and perpetrators are held accountable. This includes maintaining a confidential reporting system and ensuring prompt investigations.
  3. Support and Rehabilitation: The Anti-Ragging Cell provides support to victims of ragging, offering counselling and rehabilitation services. The Cell ensures that victims receive the necessary emotional and psychological support to recover from their experiences and continue their academic journey without fear.
  4. Fostering a Respectful Culture: Beyond preventing ragging, the Cell aims to foster a culture of mutual respect, empathy, and understanding among students. It promotes activities that encourage positive peer interactions and the development of strong, supportive communities within the college.

Vision

The vision of the College Anti-Ragging Cell is to cultivate a campus environment where every student feels safe, respected, and valued. The Cell envisions a college where diversity is celebrated, and all students can engage fully in academic and extracurricular activities without the threat of ragging or any form of harassment.

To realize this vision, the Anti-Ragging Cell aspires to upholding the following principles:

  1. Zero Tolerance for Ragging: The Cell aims to achieve a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form. This vision includes the complete eradication of ragging from campus, ensuring that the college is a safe haven for all students, regardless of their background, identity, or academic standing.
  2. Empowered Student Community: The Cell envisions a student community that is informed, empowered, and proactive in preventing ragging. It seeks to instill a sense of

responsibility in every student to act against ragging and to support peers who may be vulnerable to such acts.

  1. Model of Excellence: The Anti-Ragging Cell aspires to be a model of excellence in the implementation of anti-ragging measures. It seeks to set an example for other institutions by continuously improving its strategies, leveraging best practices, and collaborating with national and international organizations dedicated to student welfare.
  2. Sustainable Peaceful Environment: Ultimately, the Cell aims to establish a sustainable, peaceful environment where students can thrive academically and personally. It strives to create a legacy of respect, kindness, and understanding that will continue to benefit future generations of students.

In summary, the College Anti-Ragging Cell’s mission and vision are centred on the safety, well-being, and holistic development of every student. It is committed to eradicating ragging, promoting a culture of respect, and fostering an inclusive campus environment where all students can flourish.
